4 BEST NEIGHBORHOODS IN APEX NC!
If you’re trying to figure out where to live in Apex, NC, you need to know about the four best neighborhoods in Apex NC. Formerly the best place to live in the entire country, these best neighborhoods in Apex NC live up to their high expectations.
We’ll start with the more established neighborhoods located closer to downtown Apex and work our way out the newer communities.
First up is Haddon Hall, a well established neighborhood in an incredibly convenient location.

Haddon Hall
Located just west of downtown Apex and with the neighborhood entrance off Hwy 55, Haddon Hall is just minutes from multiple shopping centers that have everything you need, as well as the charm of downtown Apex.
And while the nearby Hwy 55 and US-64 can get pretty crowded during rush hour, there are plenty of secondary roads that be used for alternate routes.
The neighborhood itself has a very mature and established feel, with plenty trees around for privacy.
The Beaver Creek lake is located within the community and has walking trails surrounding it for residents to enjoy the outdoors, and there is a pool with tennis courts as well.
Homes were built in the late 90s, so many of the homes will require updates. The average home value is $500k to $800k with between 2200 to 4500 SF, with lots around 1/3 of an acre on average.
Commute times are around 25 minutes to downtown Raleigh, and 20 minutes to RTP and the RDU airport if you use I-540 with tolls, but do be cautious of traffic on Hwy 55 during rush hour.
Schools are Salem Elementary and Middle, and Apex High. Thales and Peak Charter academy are nearby as well.
Moving on in our list of best neighborhoods in apex nc, this is another established neighborhood in a great area, Scotts Mill.

Scotts Mill
Located just inside I-540 off of Apex Barbecue Rd, Scotts Mill is in a great location next to not only some of the largest shopping centers off Hwy 55, but its’ also next to the popular Kelly Rd park and on the Beaver Creek greenway.
Along with its’ great location, Scotts Mill also has its’ own pool, a fun playground for the kids, as well as tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. So if you enjoy outdoor sports, Scotts Mill may be a great place for you!
The neighborhood was built in the late 90s to early 2000s, so many of these homes will require updates. But, if that doesn’t concern you, this neighborhood offers some great properties with plenty of privacy.
The average home prices between $500k to $700k with around 1500 to 3000 SF, but there are some hopes that go up to $1M with closer to 4000 SF. Lot sizes are typically around 1/3 of an acre.
Commute times to downtown Raleigh, RDU airport and RTP are around 20-25 minutes outside of rush hour, but add another 10-15 minutes if traveling during peak times.
Schools are Scotts Ridge Elementary, which is right across the street from the neighborhood, Apex Middle and Apex Friendship High.
Next up in the list of best neighborhoods in Apex NC, we will move just outside I-540 to our newer construction communities and we will start with the master planned community of Sweetwater.

Sweetwater
Located just south of US-64, Sweetwater is a really cool community that has a variety of custom homes inspired by Charleston, Savannah and Hampton designs.
The neighborhood has smaller lot sizes but has plenty of pocket parks to use for recreation, and the clubhouse and pool area is an amazing space to hang out.
There are also dog parks, and it connects to the Creekside Greenway Trail.
The Sweetwater Town Center located within the community will feature retail, office, and apartment space, and be completed in the Fall of 2023.
You’ll appreciate the unique designs of the homes as you drive through the different sections of the neighborhood, as there are Beaufort, Charleston, Jamestown, Savannah, and Hampton style sections.
Each section has a different price range, starting with the Beaufort homes which go for around $400k to $500k for roughly 2100 SF. There are plenty of prices in between, but the higher end of the range involves the Hampton homes that are between $900k to $1.5M for 4000 to 5300 SF.
The largest homes in the back of the neighborhood are more custom built homes on larger 1/3 acre lots that are $1.2M and up with 3000 to 6000 SF.
Commute times are a little different than the previous neighborhoods at around 25 minutes to downtown Raleigh, but only 20 minutes to RTP and the RDU airport if you’re willing to use the I-540 toll road, as the neighborhood has very quick access to I-540.
Schools are Olive Chapel Elementary, Lufkin Rd Middle, and Apex Friendship High.
The last neighborhood on our list of best neighborhoods in Apex NC, Bella Casa, is a newer and more luxurious neighborhood than the previous three.

Bella Casa
Bella Casa is one of Apex’s most sought after neighborhoods for good reason.
It’s located west of Apex and I-540, and just south of Apex Barbeque Rd. It’s right by the popular Apex Nature Park where the town’s summer concert series are held, as well as the pristine fields and courts of Seymour Athletic Fields Park.
And, the popular Kelly Rd park is also right down the street, as well as the massive Beaver Creek Commons shopping center.
The neighborhood itself is very large with over 1000 homes, three different pools and two clubhouses.
There are different sections to the neighborhood that were built out in phases, so various sections of are of different ages, with the older homes being around 10 years old and the newest homes still finishing up.
The neighborhood itself does feel newer, with younger trees and landscaping planted throughout, that will take time to mature, but there were some trees left between phases and roadways.
Home prices vary quite a bit, but expect an average of $500k to $1M with 2500 to 4000 SF, and lot sizes around ¼ of an acre. There are some smaller homes and townhomes that are lesser expensive as well.
Bella Casa also has a large section of estate style homes, that average in the range of $900k to $1.3M with between 4000 to 5000+ SF, and are located on larger ½ acre lots. This section of the neighborhood has a very nice feel with some stunning home designs.
The commute is around 25 minutes to downtown Raleigh and the RDU airport, and is 20 minutes to RTP if you take I-540’s toll road. Add another 10-15 minutes if traveling during rush hour.
Schools are mostly close-by with Olive Chapel and Scotts Mill Elementary, depending on where you are in the neighborhood, and Apex Friendship Middle and High.
There are so many other amazing neighborhoods beyond our four best neighborhoods in Apex NC listed here.
